Great Learning!

2/23/2015

Well, this week was great! We had a big multizone reunion with our President of the mission. In the reunion, he talked about the importance of using the scriptures. For me, I have always lacked a little bit in this part. I know all of this history of the book of mormon, but I havent really broke in and LEARNED the scriptures.

What is the difference? When we read the scriptures, sure we will recieve some of the blessings. But why only some of the blessings? Because the true conversion and blessings of the scriptures only come with STUDYING of the Doctrine that they hold. If we do not focus in the Doctrine, we cannot recieve the conversion or the true understanding. I have really been focusing in on this the past couple of days. I realized that I know the doctrine, but I haven't lost myself in the study of it. I have been satisfied with just a taste of what there truly is. Knowing the definitions to questions is not conversion. The way to gain the powerful testimony that will touch the hearts of those around us is if we truly have sacrificed one tiny part of our time to understand a little, miniscule part of what the Saviour went through. I challenge all of you to really look at your study of the scriptures and see if you are reading or really studing the doctrine.

I love you all and the baptism of jocelyn is this viernes! I will write you more in the next letter about how it all went!

Happy Late Valentines Day!!!

2/17/2015

Well, to start out, happy Valentines day last week! It is really wierd having holidays in the mission because they are just like normal days here. It really is interesting.

This week was really a good week. I really got to open my eyes a little bit more and see how much I have changed. I have a new companion and his name is Elder Gonzales. He is super hard working and diligent. I am starting to realize how my old companions felt with me, and it is really humbling to see. I think humility is one attribute that all of us can always work on. Oh and next week we have a baptism! Her name is jocelyn, and she has truly been prepared by the lord. I will tell you more later.

Fwd: The New Change Begins!

2/10/2015

Well, the new change is here! I have a new companion, his name is elder Gonzales. He is from peru. I cant wait to start working with him here.

This last week I had a cool expierience that I want to share. I was feeling lost, i didnt have any idea what I could do. We didnt have anyone to visit or anything to do. I then started to realize that I was caught up in my pride. I really needed to put my thought aside and listen to the promptings of the spirit. It is something that is really hard to do for me, but when I do, the results are incredible. We truly need to find what is the will of God for each one of us, not just flow with what is going on around us.

Hopefully this short letter is sufficient. Dont have much time this week. Love you all!

Hey There Everyone, Elder Roberts

2/2/1015

Another week has flow on by! It is incredible how fast it all goes by! I really cant believe that I have been out around 7 months. It truly is incredible. I also want to say thank you to all of you that are sending emails and writing letters, it really is a huge motivator.

This week I learned a big lesson in charity. I have come to realize more and more what charity truly is. The definition is that charity is the true love of christ, but what is that? It is truly a gift of the spirit to have the love of christ. It is something that we honestly need to search for. With the charity comes the blessings of spirit. It all begins with our thoughts. If we are frustrated with our brother, our child, or our parents, it is almost always because we dont understand the way that they are thinking. If we put ourselves in there shoes it can really open our eyes. I recieved one great piece of advice this week. When you are serving, you are only showing your gratitude to Jesus Christ and for his atoning sacrifice. We may think that is someone else´s job to do something, but why sit and look when we are perfectly capable to help! Because when we serve others, we really only are serving our God!

This is all that I have for this week, hopefully someone will be able to take something out of it. Please keep on writing and know that I am so grateful for all of you! Sorry I dont have pictures this week, but next week for sure!

Until Next Week!
